Established in Pittsburgh in 1848, Bown & Tetley was a producer of arms through the Civil War, and remained active into the 1880s. Blade measures 11 inches in length and is marked "BOWN & TETLEY/PITTSBURGH" on the left ricasso. Fitted with a steel guard with turned edges. The grip is a single unidentified bone, secured with a rivet through the tang. Fair overall, attractive aged look to the blade, evidence of sharpening, and slightly loose grip.
