Factory Engraved Smith & Wesson No. 1 Lever Action Pistol
One of only about 1,200 No. 1 pistols were manufactured by Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson in Norwich, Connecticut, in 1854 and 1855. They are historically significant pieces for both Smith & Wesson and Winchester collectors. Factory floral scroll engraved receiver. "103" on left grip frame and inside left grip. Early round magazine follower, uncrowned muzzle, single spring screw, and lever spur. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.

Label reads ".50 .44 CAL., HENRY/RIM-FIRE CARTRIDGES/SWAGED BULLETS/MANUFACTURED BY/THE UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE Co./BRIDGEPORT, CONN.,U.S.A." along with a cartridge reading ".44 HENRY FLAT/MODEL 1866" and two "U" U.M.C. trademarks. Very good, nearly all of the lettering legible, with the exception of along the broken seals, and showing mild edge wear.

U.S. Civil War New Haven Arms Co. Henry Lever Action Rifle
Manufactured in 1863. Matching serial numbers on the left side of lower tang, barrel, stock inlet, buttplate, and both buttplate screws. Comes with a 4-piece wooden cleaning rod. The right side of the receiver bears two "H" inspector's stamps (Henry) and the right barrel flat is marked "C.G.C./H" (Charles G. Chapman/Henry). There is a faint government cartouche on the right side of the wrist (likely "CGC") and a "C" inspection mark on the buttplate. "That damned Yankee rifle that can be loaded on Sunday and fired all week" was one of the most advanced firearms of the war.

Engraved Winchester Model 1866 Saddle Ring Carbine
Features a period professional engraving on the receiver and buttplate. The upper tang is not drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. The hammer has bordered impressed knurling. The left side of the receiver has a staple mounted saddle ring. The brass carbine buttplate has a sliding brass trap door. The butt trap contains a three-piece steel cleaning rod with brass tip. The barrel has an upper band with integral front sight blade and a two-position carbine rear sight. The barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line address/patent dates. The magazine has the earlier style screw-in plug. The lower tang is stamped with the number "689" behind the trigger. "689" is also stamped on the left side of the lower tang underneath the stock, in the upper stock inlet and on the inside of the buttplate. The brass receiver is engraved with a highly detailed eagle with spread wings on the left side plate and an elk's head on the right side plate. The balance of the side plates, front, top and bottom of the receiver, upper and lower tang, cartridge elevator and buttplate heel are engraved with open shaded scrollwork, floral sprays, cross-hatched panels and double line borders.

New Haven Arms Co. "Volcanic" Carbine
The New Haven Arms Co. Volcanic pistols and carbines manufactured in 1857-1860 are important pieces in the evolution of Winchester firearms. An estimated 1,000 total carbines were produced distributed across three different barrel length configurations, with most being factory engraved. Numbered "120" on the left of the lower tang, inside the buttplate, and both buttplate screws. Provenance: Dr. Gerald Klaz collection.
