Description:

Factory letter lists revolver with a 7 1/2" barrel in .38 caliber and blue finish when shipped to Arthur H. Douglas (address unavailable) on Sept. 7, 1887. This shipment was for two guns; the second gun is in the following lot. According to consignor both revolvers were discovered in the eastern U.S. Douglas' initials "AHD" are inscribed on left side of barrel. A possible contender for Arthur H. Douglas is the "prosperous and energetic young man, owner of several production mines in New Mexico; also two or three stamp mills," as referenced by the 31 Oct. 1887 edition of The Saint Paul Globe.
