Description:

Around 4,000 of these rifles were manufactured c. 1872 to 1900 in a variety of barrel lengths and calibers. This rifle is accompanied by a William Read & Sons receipt dated June 20, 1895, for Doe Bros. (Fred E. and Louison W. Doe) of Bradford, Vt., indicate a Hunters Pet in .25-10 was "Sent to E.F. Smith, Putney, Vt." The barrel has the combination globe and blade front sight, the two-line Stevens A & T Co. address and patent marking, and a folding sliding aperture and notch rear sight. The matching serial number is on the barrel latch, barrel, butt, grips (826), and shoulder stock.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the original blue, niter blue, and nickel finish and only minor wear mainly at the edge by the muzzle. Mechanically excellent.
