Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1864 during the American Civil War and would have been an excellent presentation piece for a Union officer. It features the late percussion era floral vine scroll engraving patterns with floral accents on the barrel, frame, hammer, and grip frame. An eagle head is among the designs on the left side of the barrel, and the hammer also features the wolf/dog head motif, and the brass trigger guard is silver plated and secures a very attractive one-piece grip. The barrel has a German silver blade front sight and the one-line New York address. The cylinder has the naval scene, and the cylinder and frame have the standard patent markings as well as an interesting miss-stamp below the marking on the frame. All of the visible serial numbers are matching, and an "IE" designation for factory engraving and the grip is marked below the serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. It comes in a fitted case with an Eley Bros. cap tin, martial themed powder flask with slanted spout, ball/bullet mold, combination tool, spare nipple, and a few balls and bullets.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with strong traces of original blue finish visible on the butt and in some of the protected areas of the barrel and otherwise mostly smooth brown patina on the iron, 20% original silver plating on the trigger guard, aged patina on the silver and brass, and general mild overall wear. The grip is very fine and has attractive natural aged patina, grain, and age lines. Mechanically excellent. The case and accessories are very good and have mild age and storage related wear.
