Description:

This attractive Colt Model 1849 Pocket was manufactured in 1861 and features classic factory engraving consisting mainly of Germanic scroll engraving patterns with beaded backgrounds, floral bloom accents, a Native American face on left side of the barrel, and a wolf/dog head motif on the hammer. It also features a dovetailed blade front sight, the one-line New York barrel address, "2" on the left side of the barrel lug at the bottom, six-shot cylinder with the stagecoach scene, "COLTS/PATENT" stamped on the left side of the frame, matching visible serial numbers, a special smooth grip with for notches cut into the upper left and three on the upper right, and the factory dash mark above or below the main serial numbers along the bottom of the revolver.

Rating Definition:

Very good with crisp engraving, 80% original silver plating remaining and displaying attractive aged patina, mostly smooth gray patina on the steel, some minor pitting, mostly visible cylinder scene, and general moderate overall wear. The grip is also very good and has attractive natural patina, minor age cracks, and light scratches and handling wear. Mechanically fine. Definitely a very attractive example of a Civil War era Colt Model 1849 Pocket revolver.
