This c. 1800 blunderbuss is marked with the maker name "CLARKSON/LONDON" on the lock. London proofs on the left of the barrel near the breech. The bore is estimated and measures approximately 1 1/8 inches at the flared muzzle. Floral and border engraving on the barrel tang, lock, trigger guard with acorn finial, and buttplate. The barrel is brass, with an iron lock, hammer, barrel tang and trigger, and German silver furniture. The stock has teardrop flats, a fancy martial sideplate and wrist escutcheon with inscribed initials that appear to read "JJ", and silver wire inlays on top of the wrist around the barrel tang.

Very good with bright brass and German silver fittings, gray patina with some dark mild pitting on the iron, and clear markings in the metal. The refinished stock is also very good with a replacement spliced section at the front, scattered light scratches and dents, some light surface crazing and a few discreet filled in repairs at the edges. Mechanically fine.
