One of 1,300 revolvers in the 23101-26300 serial number range purchased by the Marine Corps from Colt through the Navy Department beginning in May 1909. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration with .45 Long Colt chambering, 5 1/2 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered walnut stocks. The letter also notes that it was factory inscribed "U.S.M.C. No. 1184" on the butt. The revolver was one of a shipment of 400 sent to the United States Marine Corps Depot Quartermaster in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 30, 1909. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, two-line Hartford address and "COLT D.A. 45" on the barrel, "VP" and "3" on the trigger guard, and the "Rampant Colt" backed by a stylized "C" on the side plate. Fitted with a set of checkered walnut grips numbered "26184."

Rating Definition:

Very good overall, retaining 75% plus original blue finish with scattered handling marks, thinning, a cylinder drag line, and light pitting on the grip frame and top strap. The grips are very fine with dings, handling marks, and otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
