Description:

A refined and streamlined successor to the MP38, the MP40 made extensive use of metal stampings and synthetic materials to make a weapon robust enough to withstand the stress of war while being simple enough to manufacture to keep up with the demand. Nearly every armed branch and paramilitary organization in Germany made use of the MP40, and many also found their way into the hands of opposition forces such as the French Resistance and Poland's Home Army, making it one of the signature weapons of the war. "43/cos" (Merz Brothers) marked on the underside of the receiver tube and "MP40/ayf 42/cos" on the end cap, with a hooded blade front and two-leaf notch rear sights, Bakelite side panels, and an underfolding steel stock. Visible external numbers are matching overall, with mixed internals. Included with the lot is a six-cell "tropical" pattern "clg 43" marked double pouch set, six extra magazines and two loading tools.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 40% of the blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina, bright edge wear, and scattered spotting and handling marks. Some moderate handling marks are present on the otherwise fine bakelite panels, and the pouch set is fine with minor repairs. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
