Description:

In 1967 Mario Abbiatico and Remo Salvinelli founded Fabbrica Armi di Mario Abbiatico e Remo Salvinelli, more commonly known as FAMARS. Since the beginning the two have been innovators and have made a name for themselves creating some of the finest bespoke guns ever built. This gun was built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib which shows a small flourish of scrollwork at the base,"ABBIATICO & SALVINELLI" marked on the left barrel, 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and 1980 dated Italian proofs on the flats. The rear lump of the barrel is marked with the names "DANTE MARIO/GIAN POLI/REMO TONY". The coin finished sidelock action is a masterpiece carried out by Master Engraver Fausto Galeazzi. The engraving shows a set of three exceptionally well executed and highly realistic game bird scenes consisting of a flushed covey of quail on the left in flight over a field with one having been shot and beginning to fall, the underside shows a delicate snipe taking flight in its forest home, and right has a covey of flushed pheasants in flight with the most prominent rooster have just taken a load of shot. The areas surrounding the scenes are covered in attractive scrollwork and Galeazzi's signature on the right side with his initials on the left. The gun features bushed firing pins, dual triggers with the front articulated, and a tang mounted manual safety. Highly figured, multi-point checkered forend with scroll engraved coined fittings, Anson button release, and a gold inlaid factory crest with space for initials and the straight grip stock has teardrop carved drop points, diamond cross section wrist, and a checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved at 15.8mm (.622 inches) and measured .627 inches; choke constriction .020/.031 inches; minimum wall thickness .035/.033 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/8 inch drop at heel; 15 1/4 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 1 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with minor handling evidence, crisp engraving, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. Don't miss the chance to own a piece by Fausto Galeazzi, a work of art that would be a star in any collection!
