This is an excellent example of a very rare Beretta AR-70 Sport semi-automatic rifle. These rifles were actually developed by the Beretta company in the late 1960s and were intended to be the new service rifle for the Italian Army, meeting the NATO standard for the 5.56mm round with the appropriate twist rate. They are the equivalent to the US M16A2 series of rifles, however they are far superior to them since they use a piston driven gas system which is far more reliable and cleaner that the US M16A2 rifles. With all the interest in the Colt AR-15 rifles during the early 1970s, very few of these rifles were actually imported to the United States. The left side of the receiver is marked; "BERETTA -PATENTED- MADE IN ITALY/Mod. AR 70/.223" and the right side is marked " Mod. 70/ SPORT". This rifle features a two position, adjustable rear sight with a post front sight similar to the early AR15s. The top of the receiver is fitted with a scope rail for mounting a scope and it has a synthetic stock and forearm with a plain synthetic grip.

Excellent overall with 98% of the original finish, with the bolt face showing limited or test firing only. The stock and handguard assembly are both also excellent showing just some very minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
