Description:

Remington only manufactured approximately 2,000 of these Model 1890 Single Action Army revolvers circa 1891-1894. The Model 1890 was the successor to the Model 1875 and 1888, and was also intended to be the competitor of the Colt Single Action Army like its predecessors. Like its predecessors, the Model 1890 is less complex and more sturdy than Colt's Single Action Army, but suffered the same fate of living in the Peacemaker's shadow. This model is one of the most sought after of all of the Remington produced handguns. The top of the barrel is marked "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, N.Y.," and "44 C.F.W" is marked on the left side of the frame just below the cylinder. The matching serial number is marked on the lower left side of the frame under the grip, loading gate, and on the trigger guard tang. It is fitted with a blade front sight, groove rear sight, a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with "RA" monograms at the tops, and a lanyard ring on the butt. Like many of the Model 1890 revolvers, the barrel length is actually 5 3/4 inches rather than the listed 5 1/2 inch length.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 80% plus of the of the original nickel finish with some scattered patches of light pitting and polishing near the muzzle and otherwise some scattered light handling marks and specks of flaking. The slightly undersized correct grips are fine with some modification marks visible on the butt, scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering otherwise. Mechanically excellent.
