Description:

The Model No. 1 3rd Issue Revolver was manufactured by S&W from 1868 to 1881. Offered here is an example with the scarce 2 11/16 inch short barrel (standard length was 3 3/16 inches), pearl grips and attractive New York floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background. The left side of the barrel has the one-line S&W legend as is correct on short barrels. Matching assembly marks appear on the grip frame, cylinder, and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 95% period retailer applied nickel plating, the frame retains 80% nickel plating and the cylinder retains traces of nickel plating in the flutes with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The engraving is crisp. The grips are also very fine with a small chip at the top of the right panel, and otherwise attractive fiery colors. Mechanically excellent
