The case is pictured on p. 282 of "The Book of Colt Firearms" by Wilson, where it is housing two similar Open Top Pocket revolvers, numbers 730 and 731, and listed as part of the Robert Q. Sutherland Collection. Revolver number 761 from this lot is pictured on p. 178 of "The William M. Locke Collection" by Sellers, where it is pictured alone in a different case. The consignor notes that this lot is formerly of the Fred Sweeney Collection. These revolvers and case make for an extremely attractive set!

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original nickel finish and 80% of the original nitre blue with a few minor dings on the butt and some pinprick type casting flaws visible in the bottom of the frame under the finish. The grips are very fine with some light wear and handling marks, and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent with a few scattered light handling/storage marks and attractively aged brass. An extremely rare presentation cased pair of Colt Open Top Pocket revolvers!
