Description:

The factory letter for this exceptional First Generation Colt SAA revolver states it was shipped and sold to the Hudson Sporting Goods Co. of New York City on June 17, 1940, and confirms the 7 1/2 inch barrel in .38-40 caliber and desirable nickel finish with the type of stocks not listed. This shipment was for 8 guns. The included 1973 dated letter of provenance indicates that revolver's ownership is traced back to David Woloch of Akron, Ohio, who sold the gun to Jerry Berger of Kansas City, Missouri, in 1970. The gun was listed by serial number in a late 1972 advertisement for W.V. Sisney of Kansas. The January 1973 bill of sale handwritten on an index card from Sisney to our consignor is included. The revolver has standard Colt markings and features including matching assembly number "177" on the loading gate and rear of the frame and matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and both grip panels. Includes the original Colt black box featuring a correct end label listing nickel finish, .38-40 caliber, rubber stocks, and 7 1/2 inch barrel. Provenance: The David Woloch Collection; The Jerry Berger Collection; Property of a Gentleman

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 99% plus bright original nickel finish with a light cylinder drag line and limited handling marks. The grips are near new with crisp checkering. The repaired box is very good with very fine original end label. Mechanically excellent. An outstanding, highly attractive pre-World War II nickel Colt Single Action Army Revolver.
