Description:

A descendant of the Browning-designed M1917 machine gun, the M2 may be the most famous heavy machine gun to ever enter American service, seeing use in all theaters, all branches, and all conflicts from the 1930s onward through World War II, Vietnam and to the modern day, along with a laundry list of overseas users. The list of uses is extremely broad; infantry machine gun, vehicle armament, anti-aircraft gun, pursuit/fighter plane armament, defensive armament for bombers, and so on, anywhere where a 30-06/7.62mm weapon simply isn't enough gun. Established in 1927 through the merger of two wheel makers, the Kelsey-Hayes Wheel Company (later the Kelsey-Hayes Corporation, K-H Corporation, and Kelsey Hayes Group of Companies) started in the wooden wheel business, branching out into metal wheels and a variety of brake products, including disc, drum, and early anti-lock brakes. A major supplier to the Detroit auto industry, Kelsey-Hayes was tapped to manufacture machine guns in World War II. No fixed sights are included with this M2, and the short heat shield for the barrel, charging handle, and spade grips are absent. The makers' markings are clear and present on the right sideplate. Included with the gun are an articulated feed chute and several linked rounds of ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Fair, exhibiting strong signs of battlefield usage with a characteristic brown rust patina on much of the surface, traces of the original matte gray parkerized finish, abrasive marks, and mild handling marks. Incomplete. Mechanically untested. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 479.
