A rare example of a Walther P.38 made under contract for the Portuguese "Guarda Nacional Republicana" (Republic National Guard), a military force that also acts as a preventative and highway policing force within Portugal. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights. The slide is marked with the Walther banner and standard markings on the left, with "3/61," "GNR" monogram, and C.A.I. import marks on the right side. The frame is marked with "eagle/nitro" and "61" dated Ulm antler proofs on the left side of the trigger guard. Fitted with a set of checkered plastic grips. Includes original Walther woodgrain box.

Very fine as a Portuguese GNR issued pistol, retaining 85% plus original phosphate and black finishes with holster wear on the barrel and slide, edge wear, and light spotting. The grips are fine with lanyard use wear and crisp checkering. The box is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
