Manufactured by Waffenfabrik Bern of Switzerland late in 1945, with production that year ending at serial number "77730," as found on page 56 of "The Swiss Variations" by Fred Datig. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, Swiss "cross in shield" crest on the front toggle link, Swiss "cross" and "Bernerprobe" proofs on the fast tapered barrel, "FW+" Bern proof at the rear of the frame, "GELADEN" marked extractor, and "S" marked upper safety position. Matching serial numbers are present on the frame, rear toggle, and barrel, with "696" on the side plate and extension. Fitted with a pair of brown plastic grips and nickel finished magazine with brown plastic base. Includes an "A.TRACHSEL/39/LEISSIGN" marked brown leather holster, brown leather shoulder straps, two extra nickel finished magazines with brown plastic bases, an officer's dagger marked "ELSENER/SCHWYZ/VICTORIA" and scabbard, a hardwood display stand, a copy of the Swiss "Die Pistolen" manual, an article copy from "Automatic Magazine" in which the pistol is discussed, and the collector's notes. Excellent, retaining 97% plus arsenal blue finish with light handling marks, slight fading on the backstrap, faint spotting, and crisp grip checkering. The holster rig and dagger are both very fine. Mechanically excellent.
