Manufactured in 1937, this is one of approximately 2,500 Lugers manufactured by Krieghoff that year for the German Luftwaffe just prior to World War II; falling within the 7300 to 10000 serial number range as part of the first contract for 10,000 pistols. These Krieghoff Lugers show commercial-grade high quality fit and finish on the various parts. Blade front and notch rear sights, with the "1937" date on the chamber, Type C-2 Krieghoff logo "H(anchor)K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL" on the matching toggle, and a set of "eagle" and "eagle/2" Luftwaffe proofs on a number of parts. Fitted with a set of straw finished small parts, and niter blue pins and springs. The rear toggle pin is a mismatched replacement (numbered "28") with otherwise all matching visible serial numbers on the barrel, extension, frame, numerous small parts, on the alloy base of the magazine with nickel finished body, and fitted with a set of correct unnumbered brown checkered plastic grips.

Very fine overall, retaining 85% plus original blue finish and 60% straw colors, with light handling marks, edge wear on the muzzle and frame, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent.
