Blued steel barrels with a blade front and two leaf (one standing, one folding) rear sight on the matted solid rib, "CHARLES LANCASTER. 11. PANTON St. HAYMARKET, LONDON." and "NON-FOULING SMOOTH OVAL BORE RIFLING." marked on the left and right barrels respectively, and chambers with a single extractor. The rifle has period London nitro proofs listing the load as 85 grains of cordite under a 480 grain bullet. The casehardened boxlock action displays light scrollwork and border engraving and features bushed firing pins, dual triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety switch with secondary "gun bearer's" safety. Attractively figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings and round knob pistol grip stock with shadowline cheekpiece, blank inscription oval, and red rubber recoil pad. Length of pull 14 11/16 inches. Weight 10 lbs. 8 oz.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, retaining 95% original blue finish, a fine silver patina on the action with flashes of the original case colors, some rubbing on the barrels, light handling evidence, and crisp checkering on the reoiled wood. Mechanically excellent.
