Manufactured in 1913, the second year of production for the U.S. contract Colt Model 1911 pistol. It is listed on p. 516 of "U.S. Military Automatic Pistols: 1894-1920" by Meadows as being included in a 900 gun shipment to Rock Island Arsenal on 17 January 1914. The serial number is marked on the right of the frame above the trigger guard and the left side has the U.S. property marking. The slide has the two-line, two-block patent dates and address on the left with the Rampant Colt behind the slide serrations and the model and army nomenclature on the right. The later replacement barrel is marked "P H" on the chamber hood and has a "J" on the left of the lug. It has blade front and flat-top notch rear sights, which were beginning to appear at the end of 1913. It is fitted with a long smooth trigger, checkered slide release and thumb safety, short grip safety, wide checkered hammer, and a smooth straight mainspring housing with a lanyard loop on the base. The grips are diamond pattern checkered, and the magazine is two-tone with a lanyard loop on the base. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration (grips not listed), the above mentioned shipping information, as well as a manufacture date of 29 December 1913.

Very fine, retains 90% of the original blue finish with some faint thinning on the mainspring housing, some light edge/cycling wear, and a small patch of light surface pitting at the top of the grip safety. The grips are also very fine with a couple minor flat spots on the left panel, otherwise minimal handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
