Description:

Heavily inspired by the "Tears Of Gettysburg" 1861 Colt revolver which Rock Island had the honor of selling in 2007, this revolver features a band of wavy line engraving at the muzzle from which there is a small offshoot of floral scroll and punch dot engraving. A beautiful spray of floral scroll with four mythical beast heads interlaced amongst it surrounds the hand cut barrel marking. The frame is engraved in a similar motif with five more interlaced beasts. The floral scroll continues to work its way down the back strap where it curls around onto the butt of the revolver. The triggerguard is flanked by wavy lines and more floral scroll. A wolf's head is engraved on either side of the hammer. All of the beasts depicted on the revolver are shown shedding a single tear in reference to the above revolver. The cylinder displays a wavy line and punch dot motif with floral scroll behind the naval scene. The piece is signed by Adams Jr. with a stylized "A" on the loading lever latch. The included Adams & Adams Engravers letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, engraving, grip material and checkering, and finish when completed on October 11, 2011, as well as a Colt hardwood case containing two powder flasks, three cap tins, eight lead balls, and a Colt's Patent bullet mould.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as embellished by Master Engraver John Adams Jr., retaining 97% plus Doug Turnbull blue finish and 99% silver and case colors with limited handling marks, some light spotting on the right side of the barrel, an attractive patina on the silver and crisp engraving and grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine. Accessories are excellent to fine.
