A collaborative project between Winchester and John M. Browning, this was the first single-shot rifle put out by Winchester, and some consider it to be the best of its class. It was manufactured in 1885, the first year of manufacture. Globe front sight and tang mounted Lyman #103 rear sight. The barrel is also fitted with an 8-1/2 inch long serrated rib and is marked "14" on the underside of the breech. Standard thick side high wall action with elongated trigger guard lever. Checkered wide custom forearm and pistol grip stock with sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate.

Refinished, with most of the dull period hot dipfinish remaining. There is a smooth gray patina forming around the muzzle and on the left side of the action, with some wear on the right side of the action, a few dents on the rib, along with some light handling marks and spotting overall. The stock is excellent, with a few dents and light scratches. The action is excellent.
