Description:

Colt Third Model or No 3 Derringer with blued barrel, nickel plated frame and varnished walnut grips. The barrel has a brass, half-moon front sight and a casehardened hammer. The top of the barrel is marked: "-COLT-" in large italicized letters. "41 CAL" is stamped on the left side of the frame below the breech end of the barrel. The No. 3 or Thuer Derringer was the best selling of all the Colt Derringers. First manufactured in 1875, No. 3 Derringers were still listed in the Colt catalogues in 1912. Total production was over 50,000 pistols when production stopped in 1910.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall. The barrel retains approximately 95% of the bright original blue finish with some areas of smooth brown patina. The frame retains all of the nickel finish with scattered light dings. The screws and trigger retain almost all of the fire blue finish. The hammer much of the fading casehardening colors with vivid colors in the protected areas. The grips are excellent with scattered minor dents and dings.
