This five shot Adams patent revolver is an early type. It has no marks except the serial number and "C" on the bottom of the barrel. It is the earlier type with a slightly heavier frame with a contour on the frame between the cylinder and the hammer. The safety, at the top of the right side of the frame, rotates under the nose of the hammer to prevent it from striking the nipple. It must be rotated in the opposite direction for firing. The front sight has an iron blade integral with the iron dovetail base. The loading lever catch is a friction type with a zigzag contours at the front. The sides of the frame, trigger guard and backstrap are engraved with floral scrolls within lines that follow the edge of the frame. The top of the frame has only the border lines engraving.
