Description:

Marked "CHICHESTER" on top of the frame over the cylinder, "PAT. MCH 28, 71 MAY 27. 79" on top of the barrel at the center. Several gun makers made revolvers carrying this name, mostly in the "pocket rifle" or "taxidermy gun" categories with the pocket rifles being considerably rarer than the taxidermy. This seven shot 22 caliber revolver has a 7-1/2 inch round barrel, a blade front sight and a small notch at the rear of the frame for a rear sight. This one was made by Hopkins & Allen Manufacturing Co., but their customer has not been identified. The grips have the dog head logo of Hopkins & Allen as well as the cylinder pin latch on the left side of the frame. That is an identifying feature for Hopkins & Allen. The butt is drilled for a shoulder stock but none accompanies the revolver.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 95% nickel on the barrel, 85% on the fluted cylinder and 60% on the frame, the latter with light surface rust and pitting at the rear. The grips are fine, the action is good.
