Description:

This early double action break open revolver marked "FOEHL & WEEK F. A. MFG. CO. PHILA. PA. U. S. A. / PAT. DEC. 17. 89 - PATS. PEND." The revolver has several unique external features, none of them covered by the patent on the barrel rib. That patent covered the revolving mechanism. The grip safety at the base of the front of the grip strap was one of several designs developed by Charles Foehl. The knurled button at the rear of the top strap is pushed to the rear to pivot the barrel latch so it can be opened. The knurled latch on the top strap at the rear of the cylinder is the cylinder release. When pressed upwards it rotates the blocking bar out of the way. All of these features were patented later. The internal mechanism was similar to the later revolvers made by Columbian and Kolb. The scroll work at the top of the grips was also used by both. Only a few of these, estimated at fewer than one hundred, were made, and less than a handful are known.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. 98% nickel with light scratches on cylinder. 95% blue on trigger and trigger guard. PICTURED Baby Hammerless Revolvers p. PROVENANCE Al Weatherhead, SPB,
