Description:

This is a beautiful example of an original unaltered very RARE Special Order "Six-Shot" 1896 Bolo Mauser Pistol. This pistol falls directly into a small serial number block (reportedly approximately 20 in total) that were ordered on a special order by an arms importer (Glasser) in Switzerland. It is reported that all of these were purchased in Switzerland in the 1950s and brought into this country. These pistols are very unique based on the combination of features that they have which are; the Rare six shot magazine capacity, with the desirable Bolo style frame, manufactured without the stock slot on the back strap, and produced as a late Small Ring Hammer production model. The top of the chamber area is marked "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N" and the right rear side of the frame is marked with "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A.NECKAR". The left side of the chamber/barrel area has a single "Crown over U" proof along with the serial number and the underside of the chamber area has a single "A,/B" proof over the early stylized lazy "M" proof of the Maier factory. The top of the barrel extension is milled flat and it has the fixed rear sight with the late style banded front sight with the original Bolo style walnut grips with 27 Grooves, with the lanyard ring on the bottom of the frame. It is complete with a special order Leather "Six-Shot" holster which is unmarked with double belt loops on the back and an original wooden handled cleaning rod. It has the traditional rust blued finish with the heat blued and straw colored small parts. These six-shot Broomhandle pistols have the best feel and balance of all the 1896 pistols.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 98% of the original blued finish with some minor wear on the front edges of the frame rails the muzzle area of the barrel and the general edges and high spots. It retains 90% of the straw color on the trigger and 95% of the heat blued finish on the safety, extractor and bolt stop. The holster is also in excellent condition showing a nice even dark brown color to the leather, with some minor wear on the edges of the reinforcing leather around the edge of the holster and the upper corners of the flap. The belt loops and stitching are nice and tight. A super RARE Six-Shot Contract Mauser pistol.
