Description:

This is a nice example of a late Japanese type 14 Nambu pistol that is complete with an original Type 14 leather holster. The pistol is a mix production series two as manufactured at the Toriimatsu factory of the Nagoya arsenal. It has the enlarged trigger guard that was developed for the use of gloves in cold weather. It has the magazine safety with the spring on the front trigger guard. The right side of the upper receiver has the intertwined "fighting fish heads" signifying the Nagoya arsenal and the series two mark followed by the serial number. The left side has the standard kanji marking for type 14, and the right side of the lower frame has the Showa date of 19.5 (May 1944) for the year of manufacture. It has fixed sights and the mid-production coarse knurled cocking knob, with all blued parts and the polishes bolt. The mahogany grips are correctly (stamped) serial numbered on the inside. The pistol has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine. Complete with an early all leather type 14 holster and shoulder strap. The inside of the flap has excellent Kanji markings with a partial paper label still affixed. Original cleaning rod and cloth are in the ammo pouch.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus overall with 99% of the original blue finish with very slight wear on the edges and high spots with just a hint of thinning on the backstrap and trigger guard. The grip panels are also excellent with minor handling marks and a very slight crack starting on the right side that could be very easily repaired. The holster is also in excellent condition with tight stitching with just a very minor hint of loosening on the hinge. It has nice color with some minor scuffing in a few spots. A super rig!
