Description:

This is just an exceptional example of a very early and very RARE, all original and unaltered WWI-WWII, German Submachine as produced by the Schmeisser company. These submachine guns were originally designed during WWI, but for obvious reasons they were never really fully developed or adopted in any great numbers. After WWI, further development continued with this design and eventually they were adopted in the early 1920s with several thousand being finally authorized and produced for use by the Weimer Police under the Versailles Treaty. They continued to be used throughout the 1920s and 1930s until the development of the MP40 series of SMGs. Many of these late production SMGs were used by the early Nazi and SS organizations. These early submachine guns fired a standard 9mm parabellum round or some variations and were fed via a stick magazine that stick out from the receiver or some were adopted to use the standard WWI Luger drum magazine. These SMGs are typical of the early 1930 production methods and exhibit finely machined and hand fitted parts with nicely blue finish and walnut stocks. This is an example of a late production SMG that features a selector switch (button) directly above the trigger to change it from single shot to full-automatic. As noted it has a fully machined upper receiver tube and perforated barrel jacket with a machined magazine housing attached above mid way on the receiver. The top of the magazine housing is marked "MP. 28II, SYSTEM SCHMEISSER PATENT" over a very small Crown N proof over the serial number. It is fitted with a military style tangent rear sight that is graduated from 200-1000 meters with a fixed blade front sight. It has a walnut stock with sling swivel attachments. The SMG is all original and has matching serial numbers on the upper receiver/barrel jacket, the bolt, magazine housing and buttstock. It is complete with two original stick magazines, one approximately 30 round and other one approximately 40 rounds. The first magazine is marked "C.G.HAENEL, WAFFENFABRIK, SUHL over SYSTEM SCHMEISSER" with a serial number on the back and the other one is just marked "CAL 9 D.R.P. SCHMEISSER" .

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with a solid 98% bright original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots and on top of the rear recoil spring cap. The stock is also in very good to excellent condition with some nice figure through out the butt with minor handlings marks. The bore and bolt face are both in excellent condition and show minimal firing. Class III Weapon.
