Excellent example of an US Army training rifle. These rifles were produced at the end of WWII and were subsequently used until the early 1970s and were intended to be low cost substitute rifle to help conduct marksmanship training. The top of the barrel is marked "O.F. MOSSBERG AND SONS, INC./ NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A/ 44 U.S. 22 LR./ U.S.PROPERTY" and the top of the receiver is marked "U.S. PROPERTY/ SER. NO. 108716". Equipped with a Mossberg "S-100" Microclick target rear sight and the dovetail blade front sight. The stock is the correct hardwood version with sling swivels and serrated steel buttplate.

Excellent, with 95% of the original parkerized finish, with a few areas of smooth wear on the barrel and some light handling marks overall. A section is missing from the bottom of the trigger guard. The stock is very good, showing some light pressure dents and scratches. The action is excellent.
