Description:

This is an example of an early pre-WWI German Military 1908 Contract Luger pistol. This pistol is marked on top of the barrel extension with "1913" for the year of manufacture and the right side has the correct Imperial proofmarks of an eagle and three crowned letters. The top of the toggle is marked "DWM" for the DeutschesWaffen und Munitionsfabriken. The safety and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN". The top of the barrel is correctly marked with the Imperial eagle and the bottom is marked with the serial number and "8.82" for the bore dimensions. There is a crown proof on the right side of the frame. The small parts are nickel plated and the partial serial number "99" appears on most parts including grips. All parts of the toggle assembly including firing pin are numbered "25". It has no stock lug and the grips are the correct checkered walnut. The magazine is the early type with the sheet metal body and pinned wooden base, it is numbered across the base to another gun. The black leather holster is marked "A HOFFSCHMIDT / HALLE A/S. / 1916" inside the flap. A retailer's name "Cords, Hamburg" is also stamped inside the flap. Names and initials are scratched all over the holster. The takedown tool is unmarked.

Rating Definition:

Partially refinished with chrome on small parts. The blue finish is original with approximately 90-95% remaining. There is some thinning on the barrel, as well as wear on the muzzle and high edges. Some light spotting is present on the grip straps. The grips are very good with light wear and handling marks. The holster is fair showing heavy wear on the flap and the tie down strap is partially missing, the lifting strap is missing, and there is crude carving on the back. All stitching is tight. Extra holes have been punched in the back.
