Description:

This is an example of a late WWI German artillery Luger rig. The top of the barrel extension is dated 1917 and the toggle is marked "DWM" for Deutsch Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken, the factory that produced this pistol. The right side of the receiver has the three crown over letter proofs next to the Imperial eagle proof and the left side has the four digit serial number that matches the frame. The bottom of the barrel has the correct four digit serial number along with the letter suffix and the bore diameter of 8,82. The front of the frame has the major serial number of "8991L" and it is correctly "GESICHERT" and "GEDADEN" marked on the safety and extractor. All the visible small components including the rear sight are marked with a "91". The sear bar, safety lever, trigger and take down lever are straw colored. The sights are the correct inverted front and the tangent rear that is graduated from 100-800 meters. The magazine is a blue current replacement with a black plastic base plate. Complete with a correct brown leather holster with the original cleaning rod, takedown tool and wooden board stock which is numbered to another pistol and marked with a "Crown / S".

Rating Definition:

Very fine with approximately 75-80% thinning original blue finish overall. The light wear on thinning spots are the edges and high spots, over all the front frame nails, the underside , sides of the barrel, the side plate hump and the lower rear grip strap. There is a small area of light spotting on the front lower grip strap, backstrap, side plate and left side rail. Approximately 80% of the straw colors remain on the small components with some minor discoloration. The grips are excellent overall with light wear to the checkering. There are a few scattered minor nicks in the checkering and a couple of light bruises. The holster is good showing some moderate to heavy wear on the edges. All the stitching remains tight. The strap on the stock is torn and another is torn half way, the strap shows heavy wear and use. The stock is fine.
