Description:

This is an example of a standard WWI 1908 German Luger pistol as manufactured by the Erfurt factory in 1911. These early 1908 model Lugers were all made with out the stock lug and hold open latch with this pistol later being modified to add the hold open device. The top of the chamber is marked "1911" for the (first) year of manufacture and the toggle is marked "ERFURT". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with smaller "crown / RC" proof with the single larger "crown / R" and "D" letters, next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The front of the frame has the military style serial number and the bottom of the barrel is also serial numbered and Imperial proofed on the left side. The various small parts all have the last two digits of the serial number along with the crown Erfurt acceptance proof mark. It is complete with an original WWI nickel plated wood base magazine that is numbered "5556b" on the bottom.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with approximately 95% of the slightly faded original blue finish remaining with wear on the left side of the muzzle, the side plate hump, the front edges of the frame rails and general edges and high spots with oxidation of the blue on the front and rear grip strap. Approximately 60% of the original straw colors remain. The grips are in excellent condition showing nice checkering. The pistol has matching numbers on all the parts except the magazine. A very fine example of a early Erfurt pistol.
