A) Marston Three Barrel 32 Derringer

Description:

Approximately 3,300 of these derringers were manufactured from 1864 to 1872. Marked "WM W. MARSTON / PATENTED / MAY 26. 1857 / NEW YORK CITY / IMPROVED 1864" on the left sideplate. The dial indicator on the right side of the frame has to be returned to zero after loading to function properly. It advances each time the hammer is cocked. Blue barrels, brass frame and smooth grips.

Rating Definition:

Good. The frame has an aged patina with some minor pitting and the remaining metal parts have a gray patina with scattered minor pitting on the barrels. The grips are good with some of the varnish remaining and a small chip on the upper front of the left panel. The firing pin is a replacement and needs adjustment. The action needs work.

Description:

Produced in the 1860's, with numbers estimated around only 1000. No sights. The cylinder acts as the barrel with one flat marked "BACON ARMS CO. NORWICH. CONN." The barrels were finished blue and the square butt iron frame was nickel plated with checkered hammer, smooth spur trigger, and smooth grip panels.

Rating Definition:

Good. All metal surfaces have a gray patina with scattered overall minor pitting and some discoloration on the underside of the frame and on the barrels. The grips are good with minor gouges on the backs, minor dings and dents and most of the varnish remaining. The action needs work.
