A) Manhattan Tip Up Revolver

Description:

Tiny half moon "MANHATTAN FIRE ARMS / MANUFG. / CO. / N.Y." marking at the rear of the barrel rib. Seven shot cylinder, blade front and notch rear sights and smooth grips with diamond engraving on the butt.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel has a dark patina with flaking at the rear, most of the silver remains on the frontstrap with the remainder of the frame having a gray patina with some minor pitting. The grips are fine with most of the varnish remaining and scattered minor scratches and dings. The action is fine.

Marked "MERWIN & BRAY FIRE ARMS CO. N.Y." on top of the barrel with patent dates around the cylinder. Five round cylinder, spur trigger and smooth grips.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The barrel and cylinder have a smooth brownish patina with traces of the original blue finish on the cylinder and some light pitting. The frame has an aged patina with traces of tarnished silver. The grips are very fine with most of the varnish remaining, a small gouge on the left panel and scattered minor dings. Mechanically good.

Marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. PAT. W.S. SMOOT. OCT. 21. 1873" on top of the barrel rib. Serial number marked on the lower frame under the cylinder. Features a half moon front sight and notch rear, 5 round fluted cylinder, spur trigger and checkered grips with stylized "R" at the tops.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains approximately 95% of the original nickel finish with scattered minor flaking and edge wear. The grips are excellent with a few overall scattered minor bruises and dings. Barrel marking is sharp. The action is tight.

Manufactured 1873 to 1887 with standard markings on the barrel rib and left side. Blue barrel and cylinder with a silver plated frame. Blade front and notch rear sights, spur trigger and smooth birds head grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel and cylinder retain approximately 90% of the bright original blue finish with minor flaking and some spotting. The frame has most of the original silver plating with the remainder turning dark. The grips are excellent with almost all of the varnish remaining and scattered light dings. Markings are clear. The action is fine.
