Description:

Marked "FOREHAND ARMS CO. WORCHESTER, MASS. U.S.A. / PAT. JAN. 11 NOV. 29 '87 JAN. 3 '88" on top of the barrel rib and "F&W" at the top of the grips. This is almost the same revolver that was made by Forehand & Wadsworth. Sullivan Forehand continued operating the factory under his own name after the earlier firm was dissolved in 1890. He operated the firm until his death in 1898. The family continued to operated it until 1903 when it was purchased by Hopkins & Allen. H&A continued to use the name on these revolvers until WWI. The hammer shroud also acts as the barrel latch. This has the later grips with the "F&W" marking in a banner. The grip screw is surrounded by a round boss, joined to the banner and base of the grip by floral sprays.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 80% nickel overall, flaking behind the cylinder. The grips are fine with slight wear to high points and a chip at the base of the left panel. Mechanically excellent.
