Manufactured in 1889, this is a third model 1873 with the dust cover base integrally machined as part of the receiver. With standard adjustable buckhorn rear sight and half nickel sporting front sight. Standard two line barrel address reads, "Winchester's Repeating Arms. New Haven. Conn, U.S.A./ King's Improvement Patented March 29. 1866 October 16. 1860." Model designation on upper tang, serial number marked on lower. Full length tubular magazine. Plain straight grip stock and forearm, crescent steel butt plate with cleaning rod compartment complete with four piece steel cleaning rod.

Fine. Approximately 50-60% of the faded original blue finish remains on the barrel exhibiting some thinning mostly along high points mixed with a few areas of pin prick pitting and scattered surface scratches. The receiver retains 40% original thinning blue the balance is now mottled patina showing scratches and scattered dings. The casehardened hammer and lever both show faint traces of original case colors. The stock is good showing some pressure dents and scratches as well as some larger dings. The bottom of the buttstock also has a small hole drilled into it, possibly for a now absent swivel. The action is good.
