The top barrel flat is marked "---MANUFACTURED BY THE--- / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.---" and "32-40" at the breech. The bottom flat just ahead of the forearm is marked "3". The serial number is marked on the lower tang and "PAT. OCT. 7TH 79" is marked just behind the trigger. The barrel is blue and the frame and lever casehardened. The forearm is smooth with a ebony forend inset and the stock is straight grip with a steel crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains approximately 80% of the original thinning blue finish with overall moderate pitting and numerous heavy marks/dings. The frame retains approximately half of the original fading case colors. The lever has a smooth dark mottled patina with about 30% of the case colors showing through on the forward portion. The buttplate has a mottled dark gray patina with light spotting. The wood is very fine with overall minor dings, dents and scratches. There is a minor crack on each side of the toe. Markings are clear. Mechanically excellent. This rifle would benefit greatly with a professional cleaning.
