Heavy target weight barrel with a globe target sight in the front sight seat. Top flat marked "H. M. POPE". Drilled and tapped for target blocks with a 9" hole spacing. Bottom flat marked "H. M. POPE, 341, 9/27/12, 2/18/11 (struck out, 238 struck out, 18.5 over 15 an over 11.5." The barrel appears to have been set back and re-rifled. The old forearm hole is now about 2" back from the present one. The action appears to be a #6 Schuetzen with two line markings, double set triggers, loop & spur lever modified with a nickeled brass 3 finger adapter, wood filled loop, non-rebated pistol grip action with beautiful factory scroll engraving with a vignette of a buck deer on the right side and a doe on the left. Both facing toward the rear. A thumbrest pin has been installed on the right side of the action. Tang sight is the Pope style with windage adjustment. Head and elevator adjusting staff. Checkered English Walnut butt stock with cheek pieces, flat bottom and nickeled brass Schuetzen butt plate. The smooth custom forearm is extra fancy black walnut with two wedge shaped wood inlays. With a casehardened steel palm rest. Accessories include a false muzzle number 341 (238 is truck out), aluminum bullet seater, brass collar for palm rest, Pope style re/decapper, modified ideal 38 cal bullet mould, custom Pope 38 cal bullet mould, two-piece wood butt plate pattern, two Pope style lub pumps (33/38 cal.), 27" wood bullet seating rod.

Fine overall as custom built with 90% thinning refinished blue on the barrel. 20% casehardening color remaining on the action with good engraving. Good stock finish and light checkering wear on the butt stock. 60% nickel on the butt plate. Tight action, good set triggers. A rare Pope engraved Ballard in 38-55 cal. with accessories.
