Fine custom target rifle with globe front sight, plugged rear sight dovetail and Lyman Junior Targetspot 8X scope. Top flat is marked "J. STEVENS A&T CO / CHICOPEE FALLS MASS U.S.A. PAT APR 17 94"; the left flat has the caliber. Receiver has the very rare factory etch-engraving in foliate arabesque patterns and the name "LUCILE" in a scroll on left side with acanthus leaves. Right side has two woodchucks under a tree in a field scene. The engraving extends over top three flats and around the hammer; all have shaded or stippled backgrounds. Left side of receiver, at top front, has a filler screw, possibly for a breech seater. Lever has a full finger loop and Schutzen double set triggers. Top tang has screws for a tang sight. Mounted with a custom, very highly figured burl grain American black walnut checkered Schnabel tip forearm and custom palm rest. Schutzen-style butt stock with checkered wrist, raised side panels with a cheekpiece and perch belly with case colored Schutzen buttplate. A great example of a deluxe high-grade walnut stock that differentiates the model 50 from the 49.

Rating Definition:

Period, possibly factory refurbished receiver.  Barrel retains 95% faded original blue with some light edge wear.  Receiver retains virtually all of is original nickel finish with only one small spot of flaking and a couple of small nicks on the edges.  Lever retains strong case colors in the most sheltered areas with balance faded to silver.  Wood is excellent, high-grade quality with minor handling and retains virtually all of its wonderful custom finish.  Buttplate retains 98% plus of its bright case colors.  Palm rest is not attached. Mechanics are excellent.  Scope is excellent with about 95% blue and good optics.
