This is an original Mauser sniper rifle Model K98 that has been factory refurbished and brought to near-new military condition and original configuration. It features a WWII model quick-detachable long side rail scope mount system enabling the sniper to use either the scope or the iron sights, hooded ramp front sight with tangent rear sight, and blued barrel and receiver with a nickel bolt and buttplate. The receiver is marked with "byf/ 42" and the barrel has import marks on the left side behind the front sight. This rifle is in its original military configuration and all of the visible serial numbers match. It is complete in a "Mitchell's Mausers'" box with a scope and letter of provenance.

It was manufactured in Germany specifically for Totenkopf, the SS Gestapo Corps headed by Heinrich Himmler. It features a ramp front sight with tangent rear sight, blued barrel and receiver with a nickel plated buttplate and bolt, and two blue barrel bands. The top of the receiver ring is unmarked while the barrel has importer marks. The left side of the barrel at the receiver has two of the skull and crossbones death's head markings while the receiver sidewall is marked "Gew. 98". All of the visible serial numbers match. It is complete in a "Mitchell's Mausers'" box with papers and a letter of provenance.
