Description:

This is a good example of a mid to late WWI M1911 pistol as manufactured by the Colt Manufacturing company. This pistol has the block style marking with the all blued parts before they went to the late "Black Army" style finish. It has an early WWII Colt slide that is marked on the left side "PATENTED APR. 20.1897. SEPT.9.1902, DEC. 19. 1905. FEB.14.1911. AUG 19.1913" followed by "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO." over "HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the Rampant Colt behind the slide serrations. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and it has the single Eagle Head S14 proof above the magazine release button. The right side of the frame has only the serial number of the pistol behind the slide stop pin hole and the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY". It still has the correct early WWI parts such as the Colt wide hammer with checkered spur, smooth flat main spring housing, checkered slide stop and thumb safety and the Colt barrel is marked with the single separated "H P" proof on top of the chamber area. It has the original diamond checkered walnut grips and is complete with one half-tone magazine and one spare parkerized magazine with an unmarked commercial style M1911 leather holster that is ink marked on the inside of the flap' JAMES JENNIE II'.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with 70-80% of the original blue finish evenly fading and thinning overall with more dark blue in the protected areas. The markings are clear and distinct. The grips are in very good plus condition with only minor wear overall with an extra old coat of varnish or Tru-Oil. The holster and spare magazine are both in excellent condition
