Description:

Produced in the 1850's and 60's, the Ordnance Department purchased 21,050 of the approximately 23,000 manufactured during the Civil War. The Starr address is located on the left side of the frame below the cylinder and a patent date is stamped on the opposite side. The serial number is located on the barrel frame, cylinder, in the hammer well, and on the inside of the hammer. All numbers match except the cylinder marked "15642". "CK", "CR" and "B" inspector marks are stamped on most components, with "F" on the trigger guard, "P" in the hammer well and "&" on the barrel frame. Smooth unmarked one piece walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Period refinished, with 70% of the aforementioned blue finish. A brown patina is forming on the barrel, frame and cylinder, along with a smooth gray on the grip straps and high edges, and scattered light scratches and dings. Grips are very good as cleaned, slightly undersized with pressure dents and scratches. Action is very good.
