SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" and the serial number. The barrel has been shortened to 22 inches and the front sight professionally soldered back on. Blade front sight, tangent rear sight with flip-up peep sight and the long pattern M1898 carbine handguard. The stock is an original M1898 rifle stock that has been shortened, with a "1903" cartouche on the left side, script "P" in a circle behind the trigger guard, a plate marked "OALW/ 4 1" in place of the sling swivel, and a smooth trapdoor buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Professionally altered, with a gray patina covering the barrel and blue on the barrel band. The receiver has turned silver, with a dark patina on the magazine and mixed gray on the cocking knob. Stock is very good, with some very light chips and pressure dents. Fine action.
