Description:

Inland M1A1 Carbine with original, late 'low wood' folding stock. The stock has the original leather cheek piece and checkered buttplate with cast markings on the inside. The carbine has a Type 2 barrel band, flat bolt, two-position "S" marked rear sight, smooth round safety and short face magazine release. The pistol grip has a circle/P proof stamped on the left side. The barrel has Inland markings behind the front sight but the date is illegible. The Inland markings on the receiver heel have been polished out and the heel has been re-numbered "1236" The carbine nomenclature of the chamber top is clear.

Rating Definition:

Assembled/refinished/restamped. The barrel, receiver, bolt and operating rod have been heavily polished and re-finished with a smooth, black, phosphate finish. The trigger group has a reddish bronze finish. The hand guard appears to be a replacement. The stock is original and in good-very good condition with moderate handling and storage wear. The carbine is complete with two 30-round magazines and a reproduction web sling. Original M1A1 Carbine stocks are scare and desirable and far more difficult to find than M1 carbines. (i.e. the basic value here is in the stock, definitely not the gun).
