Description:

This is a nice example of an early post WWI service rifle. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD / ARMORY / MODEL 1903 / 1034429 " and the barrel is marked "SA/ordnance bomb/3-18", which maybe a later replacement as it's too early for the serial number range of the receiver. The bolt has been polished and is marked with a partial W.L. 3 on top of the flat and it has a single small gas hole. The rifle has the correct milled barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate and the later-pattern, service-rifle-style ladder rear sight graduated to 2700 meters without the notch on top and the fixed blade front sight. The stock is the correct two-bolt, finger groove straight grip "S" pattern that has only a single circled "P" proof in the pistol grip area with a large rack number "17615" stamped on the lower right side of the butt.

Rating Definition:

Refurbished/refinished/assembled overall with most of a fading parkerized finish with a little more wear on the front barrel band. The stock is in fine condition with minimal handling marks but has been lightly sanded, stained and reoiled giving it a very nice look.
