This revolver was one of 605 in the first production lot manufactured in serial number sequence "A. F. No. 1190" to "A.F. No. 1794" following the Colt lot. Smith & Wesson manufactured 1210 of these revolvers. These revolvers were made with an alloy frame and cylinder. Most of these revolvers were destroyed by the government and surviving examples are extremely rare. The left side of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON", the right side "AIRCREWMAN / 38 SPECIAL CTG." and the right side of the frame is marked with the standard markings. The backstrap is marked "PROPERTY OF U.S. AIR FORCE" and the butt is marked "A.F. NO. 1685". The revolver has the dark high polished blue finish with a casehardened trigger and hammer. The grips are checkered with silver Air Force medallions. Complete with a shoulder holster stamped "USAF" on the flap, strap and nylon cord.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus with 99.8% crisp original blue and anodized finish remaining. There are a few scattered minute dings. The trigger and hammer retain all of the bright original case colors. The grips are excellent plus with a few minor dents. The holster is excellent plus with some minor age cracking on the belt loop.
