This is a good example of a very late production Colt Model 1911 automatic pistol. This pistol was manufactured in the very end of the last block of contract pistols in 1918 that was rebuilt after WWI. The slide is marked with in two blocks "PATENTED APR. 20 1897. SEPT. 9. 1902./DEC.19.1905. FEB 14.1911.AUG.19.1913." and behind this "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the Colt rampant horse in the middle. The right side of the slide is marked only with 'MODEL OF 1911 U.S.ARMY'. The left side of the frame is marked with the eagle head over "S12" proof above the magazine release, and the right side has the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number. The top of the barrel is marked "HP" horizontally with the common leg. It has all the correct WWI style parts such as the checkered thumb safety and slide stop, early style wide hammer with the checkered spur and the flat main spring housing. It has the correct two tone magazine that has also been parkerized and the grips are new checkered walnut replacements with the diamond pattern around the grip screws. As noted the pistol has a late all gray GI style of parkerized finish that shows some areas of minor pitting along the top of the slide and barrel in the chamber area. It is complete with a black leather Hunter Corp holster and a B.B. International two clip ammo pouch that is marked and dated 1942 on the back and an extra magazine.

Excellent overall with 98% of a late gray GI style parkerized finish with just minor edge wear. The grips are new replacements that show some minor handling marks on the right side probably from being in a belt holster and the lanyard loop on the bottom of the main spring housing has been removed. A very nice example of a late production WWI M1911 that you could easily take to the range.
