Ishapore factory cut-away of an S.M.L.E. No. 1 MK III* rifle with shortened barrel. These skeleton actions were manufactured as instructional aids.The buttsocket has Ishapore "Crown / G.R.I. / 1945 / No1 MKIII*" marks on the left side. The barrel is plugged at the breech end and has a 1 7/8" cut away on the right side of the barrel just ahead of the swell. The entire right side of the frame and magazine are cut away. There are two cut aways on the left side of the receiver exposing the bolt and the bolt is also cut away at the front cut away. There are various proof marks on the left side of the barrel and receiver ring. The action is functional. The stock is oil finished walnut and the metal has a gray parkerized finish. The serial number, "8182815" is located at the butt handle, receiver, and barrel.

Very good as refinished with almost all of the current gray parkerized finish remaining. There is some light spotting on the left side of the magazine and some scattered minor pitting that is finished over. The wood is excellent with a few minor dings, the buttplate has an aged patina with several minor dings and dents. Mechanically fine.
